What is Active Internet?
MF-Soft Active Internet, also called ISAM (Internet Service Account Manager),
is a program for Windows 98/2000 which allows to set up and manage multiple user
accounts for Internet access. The end users may easily access the net's
information services like World Wide Web, email, news, chat, file transfer
etc. (extensible). Other services also allow internal communication and
administration.
About Active Internet 2.x
MF-Soft Active Internet is our largest project. It's being continuously
extended and adapted to the most up-to-date Windows platforms. Version 2.0
comes as the successor of version 1.0 with major innovations and enhancements
in all areas: Functionality, security, performance, extensibility,
compatibility, and customizability. The source code has been rewritten in most
areas, and the limitations of the predecessor haven been far surpassed.
For users as well as administrators, Active Internet is a worthwhile
software.
What's new in Active Internet 2.1?
After several updates for version 2.0, we now created a major upgrade, leading
to version 2.1. Large parts of the program have been rewritten, most important
the database engine, optimized for security and performance, and other
important subsystems (data exchange, messaging, web browser). Additionally,
Active Internet now fully runs under Windows 2000, which offers enormous
security-related advantages over a Windows 98 scenario.
How does the program work?
The basic operation is very similar to that of the predecessor. The
desktop is a starting point for users and admins, where users can utilize one
or more of the installed services after logging on, and admins can configure
the various program components through setup.
First, users need to be registered by a system administrator, after which they
may log on with their individual login code. While logged in, every activity
is written to a protocol, which simplifies system maintenance a lot. The
Internet connection is usually established through DUN (dial-up network),
which is included in Windows. All services (such as a web browser) are tightly
integrated and sealed, and no additional software is needed (except for
a version Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or newer, which is free and must be
installed on the system).
What does AI cost and where do I get it?
